Ken Savage Guitars

"As a musical instrument the guitar should not impede on the musical process.  The instrument is an extension of the player.  They become as one".

Each guitar is unique.  The wood is chosen, hardware and pickups decided upon, then the guitar is made.  Focus on quality is paramount.  The aim is to produce and instrument that is sonically excellent so to be worthy of the discerning player.

About

Scale length is also decided upon and is either 25" or "25.5".

Stainless steel frets are used predominately and are housed in ebony or rosewood fingerboards.  The fingerboards are bound with wood binding.

Headstocks are scarf jointed to the necks and faced with wood veneer.

There is no text or engraving on the guitars.  They all have a leaf  motif on the headstock and are made from wood.

The top nut is made from bone.

The necks have a featured heel and are fixed to the body through a stainless steel neckplate.

Strings are through the body and are anchored with a stainless steel block.

I started working with wood over 40 years ago as an apprentice bench joiner.  My experience is wide and varied.   It includes furniture making, bespoke kitchens and bedrooms, hardwood windows and doors, all made by hand.

My first guitar was made in 1985 and things progressed from there.  With a measure of enthusiasm, naivety and youthful arrogance I wanted to make the best electric guitar in the world, now with age I understand there is no best, only different, but still I try.

The guitars I make are nothing without you, the musician.  It is with you in mind as to why I make these instruments.  They are genuinely hand made to be the best they possibly can be.  Their superb vibrancy is symbiotic with their organic nature.  They are a fine instrument and all have an oil finish.  The outcome is endeavouring to be second to none.  I consider what I do to be a work in progress, constantly refining the guitar if and where possible.

It takes about 3 months to make one guitar so there is a waiting time. Price on application.
